The mail server, e-mail server, or mail server — in the system of transfer of e-mail so usually call the agent of transfer of messages (engl. mail transfer agent, MTA). It is the computer program which transfers messages from one computer to another. Usually mail server works "behind the scenes", and users deal with other client program of e-mail (engl. mail user agent, MUA).
